her life's journey.

lungs. In late June, she was hospitalized following a fall and then transferred
to a nursing home facility. She is now in hospice care at that facility in

Sacred Harvest Fest

http://harmonytribe.org/shf2009/

What: Sacred Harvest Fest
When: August 8 - 16th, 2009
Where: Harmony Park just north of Albert Lea in Minnesota

Hello Happy Camping Pagans!

Don't wait another day. If you don't register before the end of July,
you'll have to pay $30 extra at the gate to get in.

Sacred Harvest Fest always has nationally known guest speakers, musical
entertainment and moving daily rituals in a family friendly atmosphere.
This is one of the largest family friendly Pagan festivals in the United
States, and the largest Pagan festivals in Minnesota.

Minnesota is home of the second largest Pagan community in the United
States, and what many regard as the most cohesive Pagan community in the
United States, known as Paganistan. Sacred Harvest Fest is the festival
product of the Paganistani community. This festival is so significant that
people have actually moved to Paganistan to be closer to the community
that creates this festival.

New this year we're introducing our very own Bardic Circle. Bring your
stories, your TALL tales, your songs and chants, your musical instruments,
and yourselves and come sit by the fire and share. We have also added Big
Joe and Little Joe Credit (members of Sona) coming to perform on Sunday
Night. And last but not least…. ( please place sound of snare drum
here)….we have added The No Talent-Talent Show on Wednesday evening. So,
get out your costumes. Practice your hula hooping and baton twirls.
Break out the Kazoos and come join us for a night of laughs and fun in the
Heart Chakra.

We know budgets are tight, but there are still opportunities available for
people wishing to enroll in a work exchange program.

Iron Jawed Angels Awesome Movie

If you have not seen this movie I highly recommend it for all! Especially for women and girls. While in the residential program at the VA we went on a field trip to the Susan B Anthony House and learned far more than we ever did in history classes. One of the women bought the movie "Iron Jawed Angels" and we watched it later in the week. It is one of the most awesome movies ever relating to our history! Not only does it tell the story but it also captures the audiences attention. We take for granted the battles those that have gone before us fought for our rights. This movie does a good job of portraying the fight our ancestors endured for us. Did you know that a mere 100 years ago it was illegal for women to have custody of their own children? Women were not allowed to learn math or finances because our small brains weren't capable of it so we were sent home from school when it was time for the boys to learn math and finances. Women were not allowed to keep their own hard earned wages. Susan B Anthony battled for these rights and more in addition to women's right to vote and the abolishment of slavery. I am buying "Iron Jawed Angels" next week along with a movie about Susan B Anthony herself. After our field trip we went to visit her grave and the grave of Frederick Douglas. It was an awesome day! If any of you are going to be near Rochester, New York I recommend a visit to the Susan B Anthony house, the tour takes about 2 hours but most of it is sitting. After the tour of the two houses you then go in the carriage house and imagine you are fighting for one (or more) of Susan B Anthony's and Frederick Douglas' causes. Very informative and suitable for the entire family.

Blessings and Namaste,
Kathleen

Iron Jawed Angels:
For Americans, the right to vote is so taken for granted that it's hard to believe it was unavailable to the country's women until 1920, and not until after quite a fight. Chronicling this overlooked but major chapter in the history of U.S. civil rights, Iron Jawed Angels is an accomplished biopic that covers a lot of ground without sacrificing the personal details of its characters. The film is refreshing in the way it relegates male characters to the background and puts its full focus on an array of heroic women. Hilary Swank gives an assured and inspiring performance as Alice Paul, the leader of the National Woman's Party, a radical organization that sought nothing less than full voting rights for women. The fine cast is rounded out by Frances O'Connor's understated Lucy Burns, Molly Parker as a senator's wife who defies her husband to become active in the movement, the ever-luminous Julia Ormond, and Anjelica Huston in a fun, scene-stealing role. Patrick Dempsey serves as what might have been a token "love interest" in a lesser film, but here he symbolizes the choice Alice must make between the cause and her personal life. The film's use of contemporary songs and cinematography is a potentially bold stylistic choice that doesn't always work. The intent is clearly to make past events more relevant to a modern audience, and while this strategy succeeds to a certain extent, it also serves to occasionally distance the viewer from the story. Nonetheless, the film excels at depicting the real sacrifices of the women involved, especially in the harrowing prison scenes, as well as in showing the development of nonviolent protest techniques that were later used successfully in other political movements. Iron Jawed Angels vibrantly brings to life a neglected period of America's civil rights struggle without making it seem like a history lesson.

Send Blessing to Al Rickey

Send blessing to Circle Sanctuary Community member Al Rickey, who will be

Thoughts and Opinion

Please send your thought and comments about the new column of Ask A Witch Community being added to the Wisconsin Pagan Trader.
Blessed Be

Happy Camping Pagan

http://harmonytribe.org/shf2009/

Hello Happy Camping Pagans,

We're approaching the first sign-up deadline for Sacred Harvest Festival.
Sign up before July 1, and the rates are $30 cheaper.

Come for 3 days (for $60), 5 days (for $85), or the full 9 days (for only
$115). You can enjoy 9 days of Pagan festival for less that $13 per day!

Also, merchant spaces, workshop presentations, and electric access is
limited, so the earlier you sign-up, the more options you have.

Kids 17 and younger are only $20 no matter when you sign up, and children
under 5 are free. This is a family friendly festival, helping to advance
the next generation of our community.

You can camp for 9 days under the mighty oak trees of Harmony Park,
surrounded by hundreds of your closest friends. Each day of the festival
begins with community, and continues with us coming together for
workshops, rituals, and entertainment. We continually form meaningful
connections. People have actually moved to the Twin Cities to be closer to
the group that organizes this empowering festival. It's more than a
festival, it's a tribe.

This year you have the opportunity to lend your voice to a lasting legacy
of rites of passages in our community. Sacred Harvest Fest has set aside
two days for rites of passage for whomever they are appropriate. These
rituals will be co-created by those who wish to help create this honor.
This year's experiences will be the groundwork for creating our
traditions.

The finishing touches are currently being applied to the daily rituals.
Props are being made. Costumes are being stitched. Visions are being
examined. Every care is being taken to ensure that the rituals are
personally powerful for the participants. Along with the rites of passage,
this year's rituals will include our annual Tribal Hunt, Rangoli, a
coming-out ritual for those who's gender involvements do not conform to
the norms of the over-culture, rituals from at least two guest covens, an
assortment of rituals advancing this year's theme, and daily
workshops/rituals for the eight sabbats to tie in with this year's theme
of Living the Wheel: Mirth and Reverence in Everyday Life.
